Aomori Prefecture's “Hirosaki Neputa,”
which is a nationally designated important intangible folk cultural property.

－　弘前ねぷたの起源(由来説)　－

・夏の暑さが厳しい農作業の繁忙期に襲ってくる睡魔を追い払うための行事
・征夷大将軍 坂上田村麻呂が蝦夷征伐の折、敵をおびき出すために大きな人形を作った（1750年）
・藩祖・津軽為信が京都の盂蘭盆会（うらぼんえ）での趣向として大燈籠を作らせた（1593年）

ねぷた絵の制作工程

構想
refine a plan
紙の上に立ち、頭の中にある絵の構図をイメージします。
Stand on a piece of paper and imagine the composition of the picture in your head.
構図（下絵を描く）
draw a rough sketch
鉛筆を使って、下絵を描いていきます。
Use a pencil to draw a rough sketch.
墨描き
ink in
主だった下絵の線を墨でなぞります。
Trace the main lines of the rough sketch with ink.
ロウ入れ
Add wax
墨書きの線をなぞるようにして、溶かしたロウを入れます。ロウ入れは、色付けの際染料のはみ出しを防ぐ効果と、絵に光が入った時に鮮やかさを演出します。
The melted wax is applied in a way that follows the lines of the inked outlines. The wax filling has the effect of preventing the dye from spilling over when coloring, and also makes the picture look more vivid when light shines on it.
ロウ入れ裏打ち
Wax from the back
表面のロウ入れ終了後、裏からロウの入れ忘れがないか確認し、仕上げのロウ入れをします。
After applying the wax to the surface, check that you haven't forgotten to apply wax to the back. Then apply the finishing wax.
彩色
coloring
色は、黒に加え赤・青・記・緑・紫・茶の七色を使用します。また、暖色と寒色を交互に配することも絵を引き立てる上での基本の一つです。
In addition to black, the seven colors of red, blue, yellow, green, purple and brown are used. Alternating between warm and cool colors is also one of the basics of drawing that enhances the picture.
鏡絵（本体正面）

Front of main unit

ねぷた絵を骨組みに貼ります。
鏡絵は、武者絵等の躍動感溢れる絵柄で「動」を表現しています。
The pictures are pasted onto the framework.
The front of main unit express “motion” with dynamic designs such as warrior pictures.
見送り絵（本体裏面）

Back of main unit

見送り絵は、美人画等で「静」を表現しています。
The back of the main body expresses “stillness” in paintings of beautiful women.

Profile　団体紹介

津軽佞武多響樂會
（つがるねぷたきょうらくかい）
Tsugaru Neputa Kyorakukai
津軽佞武多響樂會は、未来のねぷた絵師や弘前ねぷた祭りの継承を目指す小学生や中学生を中心とした青少年ねぷた団体です。響樂會という名称には、「心に響かせ、樂しむ」という意味を込めています。「古都弘前の三百年の歴史を絶やさず、未来へと繋げていく」ことをモットーに活動をしています。

団体結成のきっかけは、同年代のねぷたと囃子が大好きな仲間が集まったことでした。「もっと交流できる場がほしい！」「いろんな地域の囃子好きとつながりたい！」「将来はねぷた絵師になりたい！」というそれぞれの想いが一つになり、団体結成へとつながりました。

Tsugaru Neputa Kyorakukai is a youth Neputa organization made up mainly of elementary and junior high school students, with the aim of training future Neputa painters and passing on the traditions of the Hirosaki Neputa Festival. The name “Kyorakukai” means “enjoying and resonating with the heart”. The group's motto is “connecting the future without extinguishing the light of the ancient capital of Hirosaki, which has a history of 300 years”.

The impetus for forming the group was the coming together of friends of the same age who all loved Neputa and the music that accompanies it. The desire to “have a place where we can interact more”, “connect with people from different regions who love the music”, and “become a Neputa painter in the future” came together to form the group.

3歳の時に初めて弘前ねぷた祭りを見て、その魅力に取り憑かれた。その後は、ねぷた一色の生活を送り、小学6年生で黒石ねぷた祭りにて絵師としてデビュー。朝日放送「サンドウィッチマン＆芦田愛菜の博士ちゃん」にて、「ねぷた博士ちゃん」として取り上げられ、世間からの注目を集める。
ねぷた祭りにて使用する篠笛の魅力にも惹かれ、2024年の全日本横笛コンクール（エントリークラス）に初出場で初優勝を果たす。現在は、絵師と篠笛奏者の二刀流を目指し奮闘中である。現在、公立中学校に通学する14歳である。

He first saw the Hirosaki Neputa Festival when he was three years old. After that, he lived a life devoted to Neputa, and made his debut as a painter at the Kuroishi Neputa Festival when he was in the sixth grade of elementary school. He attracted public attention when he was featured as “Neputa Hakase-chan” on the Asahi Broadcasting Corporation's “Sandwich Man & Mana Ashida's Hakase-chan”.
He was also attracted by the charm of the Shinobue(Japanese traditional flute )used in the Neputa Festival, and in 2024 he entered the All Japan transverse flute competition (entry class) for the first time and won first prize. He is currently striving to become a painter and a Shinobue player. He is currently 14 years old and attends a public junior high school.

華栄（水滸伝）
華栄は弓の名手であり、戦場では幾度となく仲間の窮地に駆けつけ、弓による援護で味方を救ってきた。勇猛果敢かつ仲間思いの人物であると同時に、優れた計略家でもあり、無敗の戦歴を誇る武将である。
Kaei was a skilled archer, and on the battlefield he would rush to the aid of his comrades in times of need, saving his allies with his bow. He was a brave and courageous man who cared deeply for his comrades, but he was also a brilliant strategist and a military commander who boasted an undefeated record.
武田の騎馬隊
戦国最強と謳われた甲斐の武田信玄が誇る「赤備え」の騎馬隊を描いた絵である。武田騎馬隊が勇猛果敢に戦う姿が表現されている。
This is a picture of the “red-armored” cavalry troops that were the pride of Takeda Shingen, the most powerful warlord in the Warring States period. It depicts the Takeda cavalry in action, fighting bravely and fearlessly.
馬超（三国志）
義と正義を重んじた蜀の名将・馬超（孟起）が、三国時代の覇権をめぐる戦いにおいて、敵国・魏の武将を討ち取る勇猛な姿を描いている。
This is a depiction of the heroic figure of Ma Chao (Meng Ji), a famous general from the Shu Kingdom who valued righteousness and justice, as he defeats the generals of the enemy country Wei in the battle for supremacy during the Three States period.
趙雲（三国志）
中国の後漢末期から三国時代に活躍した武将。忠義に厚く勇猛な人物で、その姿は劉備に『一身これ胆なり』と言わしめた。
Choun was a military commander who was active from the end of the Later Han Dynasty to the Three States period in China. He was a man of great loyalty and bravery, and his appearance inspired Liu Bei to say, “He is a man of courage and determination.”
張飛（三国志）
中国後漢末期から三国時代の蜀の将軍・政治家。豪放磊落な生粋の戦士。 単騎による大喝一声で、曹操の大軍の追撃を退けるほどであった。
Chouhi was a general and politician in Shoku during the Three States period at the end of the Later Han Dynasty in China. He was a true warrior with a bold and open-hearted personality. He was able to repel the pursuit of Cao Cao's large army with a single shout.
